Stocks

Stocks are a type of building block for the Map and Model layers.

Stocks are accumulations. They collect whatever flows into them, net of whatever flows out of them.

There are four types of stock:

ClosedReservoirs
ClosedConveyors
ClosedQueues
ClosedOvens

To place a stock on the diagram

  1. On the Map or Model layer toolbar, click the stock tool.
  2. The Reservoir is the default stock type. To place a different type of stock in your model, click and hold the stock tool on the toolbar and then select the appropriate stock type from the list that appears.
  3. Click the diagram to place the stock.
  4. To edit the properties of the stock, select the stock, and then select the panel for the properties you want to edit.

Tip: Double-click the stock icon to automatically select the default field for the entity on the currently displayed panel.

For more information about placing, naming, and editing stocks, see Working with building blocks.

To change a stock's type

You can select a stock's type when you place it on the diagram by selecting the appropriate stock tool on the toolbar. Use the following procedure to change the stock to a different type after you have placed it on the diagram.

Note: When you change a stock's type, all properties you have already defined for the stock are deleted. The properties for the new stock are set to the default values for that type of stock.
